What is GrabPay?

GrabPay is a mobile wallet within the Grab app that lets you pay seamlessly for Grab services. Recently, they added more features to make it a more full-fledged mobile wallet. GrabPay is licensed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

What Can I Do with GrabPay?

  • Pay for Grab Services. If you use Grab services often, GrabPay allows you to pay for them easily, along with occasional discounts and promos.
  • Pay for Purchases. You can now shop using your GrabPay as your payment method, both online and in-store, and get exclusive discounts.
  • Pay Your Bills. You can now pay your bills as well, with over 20 supported billers.
  • Buy Prepaid Load. You can also buy load from the Grab app, complete with the latest data promos for all networks.
  • Earn GrabRewards. Now you don’t have to book rides to earn rewards. Just use GrabPay for your payments more frequently.

How to Use GrabPay

If you already have the Grab app[1] installed on your phone, then you’re on your way. Setting up GrabPay will only take at least five minutes. Do note that GrabPay is required by the BSP to verify your identity.

From the Grab app, you need to activate your basic GrabPay wallet. Once it’s activated, you need to upgrade it to GrabPay Premium to access all its features.

How to Activate Basic GrabPay Account

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap the Payment icon.
  2. Tap on Activate your GrabPay Wallet.
  3. Enter your legal name printed on your valid ID.
  4. Enter the type of valid ID you have and enter the ID number.
  5. Provide your current home address.
  6. Your Basic GrabPay Wallet is now activated.

How to Upgrade to GrabPay Premium

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap the Payment icon.
  2. Tap on Verify Your Profile.
  3. Choose your source of income and nature of work from the dropdown menus.
  4. Check that the address you provided is visible in your ID.
  5. Tap on Start Video Call. A Grab representative will verify you and your ID.
  6. Wait for the notification that your GrabPay is now upgraded.

How to Access Your GrabPay Card

Once your GrabPay Premium Wallet is activated, you will have access to your digital GrabPay card. This will serve as your virtual debit card for online payments. Grab plans to release a physical version of the card in the future.

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap the Payment icon.
  2. Tap the Settings icon at the upper right corner.
  3. Tap your GrabPay card to access your card number and CVV.

Once you’re done setting up your GrabPay Wallet, secure it with a GrabPin. This is part of the Grab app’s secured technology measures that includes a 24/7 fraud detection engine that encrypts and protects personal information and payment transactions.

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap the Account icon on the lower right corner.
  2. Tap on Settings, then tap on Set Up a Pin.
  3. Enter and confirm your nominated PIN.
  4. Your PIN is now active.

How to Cash Into Your GrabPay

Like in most mobile wallets, you can easily fund your GrabPay Wallet through your credit or debit card, through online banking, or through Grab’s partner outlets.

To make cash-ins easier, you can activate GrabPay’s auto cash-in feature. Note that the amount you will cash in via credit or debit card can’t be transferred to your contacts or to other bank accounts.

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap your GrabPay balance at the topmost part. You can also tap the Payment icon at the bottom part.
  2. Tap Cash-In then tap Cards and Wallets.
  3. Tap the amount you want to cash in or enter the exact amount. It should be at least PHP 200.
  4. Choose your credit or debit card from the payment method choices before tapping Confirm.
  5. Your GrabPay Wallet will now reflect your new balance.

How to Set Up Auto Cash-In

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap your GrabPay balance at the topmost part. You can also tap the Payment icon at the bottom part.
  2. Tap Cash-In, tap Cards and Wallets, then tap Auto Cash-In.
  3. Set a fall below balance and the amount you want to cash in when you reach the below balance.
  4. Choose your credit or debit card from the payment method choices before tapping Save.

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap your GrabPay balance at the topmost part. You can also tap the Payment icon at the bottom part.
  2. Tap Cash-In then tap Online Banking and ATM.
  3. Tap the amount you want to cash in or enter the exact amount. It should be at least PHP 200.
  4. Choose your mode of payment from the choices below. If you have a BPI account, tap BPI ExpressOnline. For other banks, tap Online Banking. Once you’re done choosing, tap Submit.
  5. If you choose BPI ExpressOnline, your payment will now be processed via BPI.
  6. If you choose Online Banking, you will be redirected to a list of online banks. Choose your bank and provide your email address before tapping Continue.
  7. Use the payment reference number to pay the cash-in amount using your online banking app of choice.
  8. Your GrabPay Wallet will now reflect your new balance.

How to Cash-In via Partner Outlets

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap your GrabPay balance at the topmost part. You can also tap the Payment icon at the bottom part.
  2. Tap Cash-In then tap In Store.
  3. Tap the amount you want to cash in or enter the exact amount. It should be at least PHP 200.
  4. Choose the store nearest to you from the payment method choices then hit Submit.
  5. Use the payment reference number to pay the cash-in amount from the store you chose.
  6. Your GrabPay Wallet will now reflect your new balance.

You can also cash-in while you’re on a Grab ride. This is extremely helpful when your balance is low, all you have is cash, and you don’t have exact change.

  1. During a Grab ride, tap the Cash-In with Driver notification.
  2. Enter the amount of cash-in (minimum of PHP 200).
  3. Tap Confirm and pay your driver with cash.
  4. Your GrabPay Wallet will now reflect your new balance.

  1. From the Grab dashboard, tap the Mart icon.
  2. Once you’re done choosing your order, head to checkout by clicking the basket icon at the lower right corner.
  3. At checkout, choose GrabPay as your payment method.
  4. Tap on Place Order and wait for your delivery.
