Toyota insurance costs, as with those of other Japanese cars like Honda and Nissan, come cheap in the Philippines.
What drives car insurance prices down for Toyota models is their high safety ratings. They’re equipped with topnotch safety features, which is a factor that affects car insurance costs.
Also, Toyota car parts are easy and affordable to replace or repair. This is also one of the reasons—apart from less expensive selling prices—why Toyota is the top-selling automotive brand in the Philippines. Toyota Motor Philippines sold a total of 152,389 units last year. Out of the country’s 10 best-selling cars in 2018, six are Toyota models: Vios, Fortuner, Wigo, Hilux, Innova, and Hiace.
If you’re trying to find a Toyota model that doesn’t cost much to insure, here are the Toyota car insurance prices that will help you decide the best vehicle to purchase this year. Note that the prices are estimates from actual insurance providers. The actual car insurance costs may still vary per Toyota model variant.

Who isn’t familiar with this popular sedan by Toyota? With over 25,740 units sold in 2018, Vios has grabbed the spot as the top-selling car in the Philippines. With a name that means “to move forward,” the subcompact model locks the lead with its fun style, practicality, and powerful performance.
Vios is generally safe to drive, too, which is why it’s also cheap to get a car insurance for. The 2018 Toyota Vios got a five-star rating in the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP) Crash Test. Its variants come fitted with standard safety features, including seatbelts, SRS airbags for the driver and passenger, child lock protection, and high mount stop lamp.
Toyota’s best-selling midsize SUV, with 23,082 units sold in 2018, has that unmistakably commanding presence on the road. Its interior screams luxury all over.
When it comes to safety, it’s loaded with features that protect both the driver and passengers: driver, passenger, side, and curtain shield air bags; vehicle stability control; active traction control; and hill-start assist control. The ASEAN NCAP gave the Toyota Fortuner a five-star safety rating for adult occupant protection and a four-star rating for child occupant protection.
With 21,234 units sold last year, Wigo is Toyota’s top-selling mini subcompact car. It’s one of the cheapest cars you can buy under PHP 700,000, being the Japanese automaker’s lowest-priced model.
The mini hatchback’s engine features Toyota’s VVTi technology for greater acceleration and fuel efficiency. Its safety equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, child locks, and anti-lock brakes. No wonder Wigo won the Best Adult Occupant Protection and Best Child Occupant Protection awards for the mini car category at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix.
The rugged Hilux is Toyota’s top-selling pickup truck, with 18,287 units sold in 2018. It’s got a powerful machine under the hood. Its safety technologies are just as powerful, such as the driver and passenger SRS airbags, driver’s knee airbag, reversing camera, and anti-lock braking system. Toyota Hilux earned the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix’s Best Child Occupant Protection for the pickup category.
Sleek and sporty, the Innova is one of the most sought-after multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) in the Philippines. Toyota’s best-selling MPV was sold 18,175 times in 2018.
Toyota Innova also makes a safe family vehicle. It comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag, dual airbags, and anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution. The ASEAN NCAP gave it a four-star and five-star rating for both child and adult occupant protection.
The reliable people hauler, the Hiace, is Toyota’s best-selling minivan with 17,972 units sold last year. It has such a big market in the Philippines that Toyota staged in the country the global launch of its new generation of Hiace in early 2019.
All Hiace variants come equipped with dual front airbags and an anti-lock braking system. The Commuter variant has an additional airbag in the center to protect the passenger sitting in the middle.
With its premium vehicle selling price that starts at around PHP 2 million and off-roading capabilities, the FJ Cruiser is among the most expensive to insure among Toyota models. This powerful Toyota SUV earned good safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash test.
Those who are risking driving without insurance can be penalized and may pay off damages that are more costly than the premium itself. While it may be cheaper to consider a third party liability insurance policy, it’s always worth the time understanding the coverage and the premiums of a fully comprehensive insurance. It doesn’t have to be that expensive and could be cheaper than chopping your coverage to separate pieces.
