How to Choose the Right BPI Credit Card

BPI offers different types of credit cards,[1] each catering to different needs, budgets, and lifestyles. Choosing the right one can be overwhelming because of the many choices. Instead of choosing a card solely because it has attractive rewards, compare its annual fee, income requirement, rewards or cashback structure, and features against your actual spending.

Why should you carefully select and compare a credit card? Going for the wrong card may get your application declined—especially if you don’t meet the specific requirements for that card.

How to Apply for a BPI Credit Card Online

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Check the minimum income, age, and other eligibility requirements for your preferred BPI card before starting the application. Choosing a card that matches your financial profile can help you avoid applying for a product whose requirements you do not meet.

Step 2: Compare BPI Credit Cards

Compare the cards based on your spending habits, income, annual membership fee, rewards or cashback, and other benefits. If you are unsure which card fits your goals, compare BPI cards with other credit cards before applying.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents

Have your valid ID and applicable proof-of-income documents ready before beginning your application. Clear and complete documents can help you submit the application without unnecessary delays.

Step 4: Complete the Online Application

Go to BPI's official credit card application facility and complete the required information. You may be asked for personal details, employment information, financial information, supplementary cardholder details, and personal references.

Review every field before submitting your application to make sure your information is accurate and complete.

Step 5: Submit Your Requirements

Upload or submit the documents requested by BPI and review your application summary before completing the submission. Keep your application or reference number so you can use it when checking your application status.

If you need more time to complete your application, you can exit and submit all documents within three banking days (from when you filed your application form). Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your application.

1. What is the best BPI credit card for me?

Here’s what you must consider when choosing a BPI credit card:

  • What you’ll frequently use it for – Will you use the card to pay for groceries, shopping, travel, gas, gadgets, or online purchases?
  • Your preferred kind of reward – Do you want to earn points, miles, rebates, discounts, or freebies each time you use it?
  • Your budget and lifestyle – How much is your gross monthly income? Do you have the budget for the annual fees, finance charges, and other fees?

Consider the following BPI credit card features as well:

  • Annual fee – Annual fees for BPI credit cards range from ₱1,000 to ₱5,500. But most cards waive your annual fees for the first year.
  • Interest rate – Also known as a finance charge, the monthly interest rate is the interest charged on the amount you’ve borrowed. All BPI credit cards now have a 3% monthly interest rate.[3]
  • Other features – Check the rewards points, rebates, and other exclusive perks of the cards you’re considering using.

Once you’ve figured out what you want from a BPI credit card, narrow down your choices and apply for one that suits your budget, lifestyle, and needs.
