Since we have expenses on everyday necessities, how can we make the most of our every spent peso? With the Citi Platinum Card or even with Citi PremierMiles Card, 1 Citi Reward Point is gained for every P30 spent. The Citi Rewards Point also never expire.
The cardholders can earn more points for every P30 spend made at the department stores and shopping boutiques in the Philippines. They can earn 3 points for every P30 spent. The purchases can be made in either at mortar-and-brick stores or online retail shops. This privilege also applies on every P30 spent at restaurants in the Philippines.
Three points are earned for every P30 spent overseas, whether in-store or online. Anyone can grab items online and earn the reward points at the same time.
A merchant category code (MCC) is a 4-digit number assigned to a business by the bank when the business begins accepting Visa or MasterCard as a form of payment. Thus, the Citi Platinum Card cardholders need to pay attention to the merchant category codes that vary from one another. They can earn the 3X Bonus Points only when they use their card in the merchant categories listed below.
For instance, the merchant category codes for the purchases made at department stores and shopping boutiques are 5137, 5139, 5311, 5611, 5621, 5631, 5641, 5651, 5655, 5661, 5691, 5699, 5941, 5948 and 5999. The MCCs for the spending made at the restaurants are 5812 and 5813.
How to compute the points you have gained each time paying for your purchases? You just need to multiply 9.99% with the amount charged for each eligible purchase. For example, P10,000 X 9.99% = 999 points
Starting from 1st August 2013, cardholders are entitled to a bonus of 5,000 points once they renew their annual card membership, with the stipulation that they have charged retail purchases of at least P500,000 to their cards.
Cardholders have to beware that purchases before the 1st August 2013 are excluded from the computation of the accumulated retail spending.
