The biggest and brightest auto show in Manila has just ended, and showcased some of the cars of the future, along with other new models from some of the biggest and best-loved manufacturers all over the world.
The Manila International Auto Show is easily the most anticipated car show in the country, and here’s a look at some of the cars that graced the World Trade Center and Philippine Trade Training Center.
First up is a new subcompact sedan from Chevrolet: the Sail. As far as local car makers go, Chevrolet never fails to bring a bit of flair to their presentation. This model is expected to grace the market in June, and boasts a Php 688,888 SRP for a 1.3L MT variant.
A supercar that’s homegrown also made a showing at the MIAS, courtesy of Tsikot.com. It’s a supercar that’s taken some of the best elements from other supercars and mixed them into a beautiful machine that runs on a 2.0L I4 engine capable of running up to 350hp. Not bad at all.
Subaru Viziv 2
Concept cars abound as it is every year at MIAS, but Subaru’s Viziv 2 concept car was among what the visitors found most impressive. Concept cars tend to take very inventive and imaginative steps, and this one is no different, boasting a 1.6L plug-in hybrid unit. It also looks like something out of sci-fi movies, which is so cool.
The fourth generation of the Sportage remains refined and dynamic, sporting a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. The new model has only gotten roomier and it has gotten even more aerodynamically efficient. It’s a compact crossover that can go to 100 km/h in just 8.9 seconds.
The Manila International Auto Show is a yearly event that just gets bigger and more wonderful each time. While some favorites, like the 2016 Civic didn’t make an appearance, there were still cars both old and new that were worth checking out.
