Big expenses don’t always come at a convenient time. You might need to repair your home, pay tuition, support a small business, or cover an unexpected bill. When your savings aren’t enough, a loan may help bridge the gap.
For qualified Pag-IBIG members, the Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) is one option to consider. It lets you borrow up to 80% of your Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, subject to program requirements and your available loanable amount.
Qualified Pag-IBIG members can choose between a two-year or three-year loan term, allowing them to manage their monthly payments according to their financial capacity. The Pag-IBIG MPL interest rate is 10.5% per annum, equivalent to 17.5% based on a diminishing principal balance, and the loan comes with a two-month grace period. But getting access to funds is only one part of the decision. Before applying, consider how much you actually need, how much you can afford to repay each month, and how the loan will fit into your overall budget.

How to Compute Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan Amount
How much is the first salary loan in Pag-IBIG? Under the current Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) guidelines, the amount you can borrow is based on the lowest of your desired loan amount, loan entitlement, or capacity to pay. Your loan entitlement is equivalent to 80% of your Total Accumulated Value (TAV), which includes your accumulated Pag-IBIG savings and credited dividends.
For example, if your Pag-IBIG Total Accumulated Value is ₱100,000, you may be entitled to borrow up to ₱80,000:
₱100,000 (Total Accumulated Value) × 80% = ₱80,000
The actual amount you can borrow may be lower depending on your capacity to pay and the amount you wish to borrow. Qualified members must generally have at least 24 monthly membership savings, at least one monthly savings contribution within the six months before applying, and sufficient proof of income.
What if you have an existing loan? How much would be your maximum loanable amount?
You can still apply for a Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan even if you have an existing Calamity Loan, provided your existing account is not in default. If you have an outstanding Calamity Loan, your loanable amount will be the difference between 80% of your TAV and your outstanding Calamity Loan balance. Pag-IBIG also treats the MPL and Calamity Loan as separate programs, allowing qualified members to avail of an MPL while they still have an outstanding Calamity Loan.

How to Speed Up Your Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan Application

multi-purpose loan pag-ibig - how to speed up application
To avoid delays in your Pag-IBIG MPL application, make sure your membership and employment records are complete and updated. If you have multiple Pag-IBIG membership records from previous employers, you can request to have them consolidated using the Request for Consolidation/Merging of Member's Records (RCMMR), HQP-PFF-093.
The RCMMR can be used for Short-Term Loan (STL) applications. To request record consolidation, submit the completed form, a photocopy of one valid ID, and a photocopy of your SSS Employment History to a Pag-IBIG Fund branch.
Having updated membership records and submitting all required documents can help minimize processing delays. Pag-IBIG processes an MPL application once the complete requirements have been submitted.
Where to Pay Your Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan
Paying your Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) on time helps you avoid penalties and keep your account in good standing. The loan can be repaid over two or three years, with monthly payments due on or before the 15th of each month, starting on the third month after loan disbursement.
Employed members can generally repay their MPL through salary deduction. Self-employed members, OFWs, and other individual payors can make their monthly payments over the counter or through Pag-IBIG-approved payment channels.
Pag-IBIG currently accepts loan amortization payments through various accredited payment facilities, including:
- Pag-IBIG Fund branches
- Bayad
- GCash
- Maya
- Online payment facilities
- Accredited banks and other collecting partners
Payment options and applicable convenience fees may vary by channel. Always check your Pag-IBIG billing statement for the exact amount due before making a payment.

If you're paying through salary deduction and your employer is responsible for the missed payment, the penalty charged to you may be reversed once you provide proof that the non-payment was due to your employer. 8. When can I pay my Pag-IBIG MPL directly instead of through salary deduction?
You may need to pay the Fund directly if your MPL is being paid through salary deduction but you:
- Are suspended from work
- Are on leave without pay

- Experience other similar circumstances that prevent salary deduction
Self-employed members, OFWs, and other individual payors may also make payments through over-the-counter or other payment methods approved by Pag-IBIG Fund.
9. When can I renew my Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan?
You may renew your Pag-IBIG MPL after paying the equivalent of six monthly amortizations, provided you continue to meet the Fund's eligibility requirements. Renewal cannot be made earlier than the sixth monthly amortization due date.
When your renewal is approved, the remaining balance of your existing MPL will be deducted from the new loan amount, and the net proceeds will be released to you. If you fully pay your existing MPL before maturity, you may apply for a new loan afterward, subject to eligibility.
