What You Can Do When Stuck in a Traffic Jam

Metro Manila is one of the worst places in the world for car drivers – headache-inducing traffic jams, narrow, damaged roads, disunited public transportation, neglectful pedestrians and many more. Our traffic congestion has become world-renowned in a disgraceful sense. Every person loses an average of 8 to 12 days per year because of traffic congestion. So aside from killing time on the snail’s pace and wasted energy of your car mostly stuck on first gear, here are things worth doing on your next ride: Save on Fuel Switching the engine off can save your fuel but only if traffic is totally not moving for at least a minute or more. Modern cars switch your engine off automatically when you’re stationary – they are built with special starter motors and batteries. So if your car does not have this feature yet, switching your engine off and on causes excess wear on your car and requires some fuel if your restart it. Watch Out for Accidents Though unnecessary speed causes major road accidents, inch-by-inch movement of cars causes vehicular mishaps. Low-speed cars need more caution because slight moves and shifts cause impacts which can cause a collision to vehicles in all your directions. Keep an eye on all directions and as much as possible, keep distant to your fellow drivers, especially if you don’t have a car insurance plan. Don’t Succumb to Stress Learning to keep a cool head despite being stressed is as vital as a healthy diet. As much as possible, keep calm about the situation and divert your focus to other things such as listening to…

Top Occupations Often Rejected by Banks

When applying for financial products such as credit cards and loans, banks require its applicants to submit documents that prove their re-paying capacity. Since then, majority of applicants from the BPO field are in restriction to avail financial products from banks because of their repayment history. Lawyers Lawyers know the law – professionally. 5G Internet in the Philippines?

Smart confirmed in August that Philippines has gone 5G specifically when the time they fired up its LTE-Advanced Network, but it’s rival, Globe Telecom says it’s just a marketing hype. Globe chief financial officer Albert de Larrazabal said the “5G” label could be misleading. “The standards for 5G have not been set by the GSMA. It will be forthcoming. It’s probably a variant of LTE technologies. 3G had several levels of maturity over the years, and that’s happening with LTE as well,” he said. According to the Head of Network Technologies Strategy of Globe, Emmanuel Estrada, “5G per se has not been defined, how can you say that it’s already here?” He presented to the media some technical papers that were presented during the European Technical Standards Institute’s Future Mobile Summit. Estrada said, the 5G time-frame will only be present around 2020 and the large-scale deployments will just be on 2041 – that far away. However, the LTE-advanced will be continuing its adoption until 2031. The current status is the real 4G, where telcos were able to deliver speeds up to 100Mbps up to 500Mbps. He shared with us some of the technical papers that were presented during the European Technical Standards Institute’s (ETSI) Future Mobile Summit. ETSI is a nonprofit organization responsible for standardizing information and communications technology in Europe. 4G became commercially available in the Philippines in August 2012. Define ‘5G’ Mon Isberto, Head of Public Affairs at PLDT said, PLDT’s LTE Advanced network is referred to as 5G in other markets like the US, stressing that it…

Ideally, one of the best days of your life is when you’re able to acquire the things you want at the time when you’re physically capable to do it – nothing less; it’s the Pinoy working class or the ‘Yuppies’, short for young professionals. Businesses love this demographic of the Filipino market because they have money to spend and oftentimes the need for self-gratification. Pinoy yuppies opt for convenience, efficiency and fun. They have their own set of choices of goods and products they patronize, with more money to spend and limited free time compared to other age groups. What products Filipino yuppies spend mostly on? Here are the top 4! Fast food A typical Filipino eats a lot – five times in one day – no wonder fast food is always an option when people from this group get hungry while rushing to work, while inside the office, and especially before going home after-office hours. 8 Critical Questions To Ask Before Buying Car Insurance

Getting your car insured is a must for vehicle owners in the Philippines. Not only is it required by the Land Transportation Office (LTO); Filipino drivers are exposed to daily risks that can do serious and expensive damage to their car. Philippine law requires us to get Compulsory Third Party Liability (CTPL) insurance upon registering our car, which only covers property damage or injuries in case the insured vehicle causes any accidents. Comprehensive car insurance is what will really protect you and help you cut costs in case of flooding or accidents on the road. Buying car insurance for the first time can be intimidating, especially when you don’t understand what you’re buying. It helps to ask insurance providers a lot of questions before making a decision. Here are 8 important questions that your provider should be able to answer as you find the right insurance deal for you. What type of coverage do I need? Comprehensive car insurance isn’t always comprehensive. You need to purchase add-ons to protect your vehicle against events like Acts of Nature, riots, or vandalism. Whether or not it’s wise to purchase these add-ons depends on your car and how you use it. Be up-front about these things when talking to the insurance agent so that he or she can make the best recommendations for your needs. Can you explain my policy in layman’s terms? As the driver and car-owner, it is important that you fully-understand everything before signing it. Ask the insurance provider to explain all the fine print for you. Are there any hidden fees? Whatever the cost of the premium, you might be…

7 Unaccounted Expenses That Burn Your Money

Filipinos’ usual financial monthly routine goes around with income and expenses. Once they get their paycheck, it will be allocated to their expenses and then save what is left. But essentially, money experts advise that people should save first before even using their funds for their expenses, but that’s not the case for everyone, since we’re dealing with different amount of income, sets of expenses and attitude towards money. Here are common things people unknowingly burn their money on: Buying on non-sale season Planning your purchases has always been wise. If you shop for your things on the same place, you would know when they will have a drop on their prices and schedule of their sale. Truly, timing is everything. Not adjusting air-con’s temperature Save five to 15 percent from your electricity bill by adjusting aircon’s thermostat for hours – especially when the temperature outside is fine. It’s better though, when it automatically adjusts. Shopping at the wrong store It’s convenient to shop at one place, but if you consider real savings, buy them on the store specialized for them. For instance, don’t buy medicines on the supermarket or don’t buy bags in the bookstore because usually it’s more expensive. Also, buying at a convenience store is convenient but it’s never money-friendly. Ignoring generic brands We all have that love and trust for brands, but if you really want to be an effective money-saver, buy the generic ones over fancy labels. Generic drugs can cost as much as 80% less than brand-name alternatives. Clever advertising and fancy packaging don’t…

In relation to Tip #1, focus on driving can keep you away from any danger. It is also recommended to turn off your radio on your first few times behind the wheel – get to know more important things before focusing on the add-ons. #3 Do not use your mobile phone Legally, you are not allowed to use your phone while driving. It’s as dangerous as driving drunk. As much as possible, turn your mobile phones off or in silent mode so you won’t get distracted by a text or phone call while you’re driving.
